UNDERWATER INSPECTIONS
Class in-water
surveys and general hull inspections for in-lieu of
dry- dock, to postpone dry-docking, sales/purchase, damaged evaluation, etc. Visual, photographic, and cctv-monitor coverage with
divers-to-surface communication system, as well
as full hull technical written divers report completed with video recording. Tail-shaft wear down readings and rudder pintle clearance
measurements. Ultrasonic thickness plates measurement.
TEMPORARY AND PERMANENT REPAIRS
“Permanent” repairs for
metal cracks, collision impact damages, corrosion pitting holes and defects in shell plating. We use our hand-made range of naval
aluminium reinforced cofferdams specifically designed to cover the
different areas and turn of bilges shapes of floating structures. These cofferdams are secured to the structure by wet-welding of various steel- dogs together with steel wedges and a vacuum is created with valves for a safe coupling to the hull. Inside, coded welders work in
dry and same environmental conditions as per the dry-dock weld the certified insert plate. The development of the entire welding process is always checked by ultrasonic and/or MPI measurements conducted
by certified technicians. The result is similar to a dry- dock repair and is approved by the different Class Societies. “Temporary” repairs by
underwater welding of metal cracks, collision impact damages, plates corrosion, etc, by underwater welding of double plates. Also, high
resistance epoxy-cement (two components) to sealing cracks,
collision impact damages, plates corrosion and defects, etc.
HULL CLEANING
The underwater hull cleaning of vesselʼs hull and afloat marine structures is carried out together with hydraulic machines. These machines are equipped with three brush disc systems that remove off slime, algae, grass, barnacles,
tubeworms and goose barnacles. This system does not harm the conventional antifouling paint or SPC antifouling or silicone paint. It is required by the Maritime Authorities to collect the
fouling adhered to the hull and some metal particles paint. The hydraulic cleaning machineʼs system has a different environmental filter approved by the University of Cadiz and is annually evaluated by the Maritime Authorities departments.
PROPELLER REPAIRS
Cutting off damaged sections and/or bent blades by impacts with nicks, missing material or cavities using hydraulic saws and grinders to compensate and balance unequal blades
PROPELLER POLISHING
The polishing is conducted by professional and trained divers with special tools of high revolution hydraulic
brushes and using “3M” diamond discs. The result is an “A” polishing grade in the Rubert scale together with the proper hydrodynamic draw
OTHER UNDERWATER WORKS
Supervision, control and removal of azimuthal propellers echo-sounder replacement, speed-logs and other navigation aid underwater devices. Sealing of suction grids using safety
waterproof plywood plates together with rubber foam and sea discharge through tapered wooden plugs during replacement or repairs of valves, pipes, filters cleaning, etc. Tail-shaft and rope-guard sealing by different methods for internal repairs and oil leakage prevention.
Sacrificial anodes replacement to avoid corrosion of the submersed hull structure. Ultra thermic oxy-arc cutting electrodes to cut-off defective
bilge keel sections, shell plating, steel wires/cables, anchor-chains, rope-guard, etc. Salvage operations.
